Sylvanvale’s Supported Playgroup is back in full swing after a short break over the Christmas holiday period.
We’ve recently made some exciting changes to the playgroup. It now follows a set format, starting with a developmental-friendly activity such as arts and craft, followed by learning a key word sign and finishing off with story time.
To give you even more scope to learn about your child’s development, from time to time we will also provide opportunities at the playgroup to speak to allied health professionals from other organisations.
Keep an eye out for upcoming guest practitioners on our Sylvanvale social media channels.
What’s the Difference Between a Regular Playgroup and a Supported Playgroup?
A playgroup is a regular and relaxed meeting for groups of young children who haven’t yet started school, accompanied by their parents or caregivers. In a playgroup, children play and do activities together while their parents or caregivers supervise and socialise.
A supported playgroup is a type of playgroup which is led by a qualified early childhood facilitator. These playgroups tend to be aimed at families who need extra support to access a positive, facilitated experience.
What Sets Sylvanvale Supported Playgroup Apart?
Sylvanvale’s Supported Playgroup is supported by a member of our Clinical Services team, as well as an early childhood educator.
Our playgroup provides a unique opportunity for you to ask our experts any questions you have and to review your child’s development. It’s also great fun for your child!
The playgroup is free of charge. It has been funded by a NSW Department of Education Start Strong Pathways Grant.
