Sylvanvale’s Caringbah Craft Centre recently took centre stage when it featured on Network 10’s news-current affairs show, The Project.
The show’s producers chose to do the segment after hearing about the centre’s unique service model, where people with disability work alongside volunteers to build beautiful wooden products. They were also drawn to the way the enterprise hub fosters creativity, and develops the skills, of the people with disability who attend.
The Project segment, which aired on 22 February, successfully captured the team’s community spirit, the bonds it builds and the way it adapts, creates and innovates in everything it does. It also conveyed the centre’s uniqueness and how it empowers people with disability.
“This was a great opportunity to show the world what people can do when they work together, no matter what their abilities are.
“It’s really important that you don’t put people in a box. People can achieve whatever they want with the right supports and encouragement.”Shaun Ferguson - Caringbah Craft Centre Site Manager
