An independent review of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) – which was launched by the Federal Government in November 2022 – is currently underway. The aim of the review is to put people with disability back at the centre of the NDIS.

The review is being co-chaired by Bruce Bonyhady AM and Lisa Paul AO PSM. Panel members include Mr Kevin Cocks AM, Ms Judy Brewer AO, Dr Stephen King, Mr Dougie Herd and Ms Kirsten Deane OAM.

The results of the review are due to be handed to the government by October 2023.

The independent review is looking at the design, operations, and sustainability of the NDIS. It is also focussing on how to make it less traumatic for people when applying to be a part of the scheme.

The review process includes genuine consultation and engagement with people who have lived experience. The process is fully accessible so all people with disability can take part and have their say either online, on the phone, via video or by writing in.

Sylvanvale, along with other disability service providers, has contributed to the review via Alliance20 and NDS forums.
