Facing Forward Committees Underway

Facing Forward Committee first meeting

Sylvanvale’s Facing Forward committees are now in full swing, having formed late last year.

The community engagement committees are an exciting initiative led by Sylvanvale’s Board of Directors. The purpose of the committees is to help us to understand and improve the way we work, ensuring we are meeting the needs of those we support. The separate family/carer and participant groups enable us to get two separate perspectives across the regions.

Our parents and carers committee has met three times and discussed a variety of issues such as the NDIS review, property refurbishments, technology updates, Sylvanvale’s strategic plan and the Voice Survey results.

Our participant committee has met once and worked together to produce an Easy Read version of the committee’s terms of reference, which they will ratify at their next meeting in April. The Easy Read terms of reference will help ensure participants come to each meeting informed and can meaningfully participate and contribute to the agenda.

Sylvanvale’s Board of Directors have been enjoying the opportunity to meet – and listen to – families, carers and the people we support.

“We are very excited about our Facing Forward committees, which we believe will have a positive impact on the people who use our services, now and in the future.”

“Our committees represent a real opportunity for people to have a voice and be heard. The Sylvanvale Board of Directors wants to listen – we are genuinely interested in what people have to say.”
