High-End Accessible Build in the Sutherland Shire

Sylvanvale, Vista Build & Vic Lake Architects Unite for Second High-End Accessible Build in the Sutherland Shire

Sylvanvale is proud to announce the construction of a Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) development in Illawong. To celebrate the construction kick off, Sylvanvale hosted a sod turning event, attended by Mayor Jack Boyd, Jenny Ware the Member for Hughes, Board Director David Rafferty, and other esteemed members of the council and community.

This project will accommodate up to eight residents eligible for SDA under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), reinforcing Sylvanvale’s commitment to providing exceptional quality disability accommodation that blends innovation with fully accessible living within the community.

Illawong disability housing

Following the success of Sylvanvale’s SDA development in Bangor, this new project will push the boundaries of disability housing once again. The homes will incorporate the best of assistive technology and be designed to provide residents with choice, independence and dignity.

“With around 21.4% of the population living with disability, our Bangor development demonstrated how innovative and accessible housing can transform lives. This new project in Illawong builds on that success, providing residents with a home that is functional, beautifully designed, and fully integrated within the local community,” said Leanne Fretten, CEO of Sylvanvale.

This development consists of a standalone three-bedroom home with a separate one-bedroom self-contained dwelling. Next door, a duplex with two, two-bedroom residences provides additional accommodation. All dwellings are built to High Physical Support and Robust SDA standards and include shared Onsite Overnight Assistance (OOA), ensuring 24/7 onsite support via a dedicated staff hub.

Conveniently located near Menai Marketplace, this development fosters community integration, encouraging residents to engage in local activities and services. The homes feature both open and private living spaces, combining comfort, accessibility, and high-quality finishes to create a welcoming environment.

Sylvanvale is pleased to partner again with Vista Build and Vic Lake Architects, both selected after a rigorous tender process. These organisations share Sylvanvale’s values and are dedicated to supporting people living with disability in our community.
